Rippling into Autumn

I’m so excited to share Tuinn Bheaga with you at last! It’s been very popular on Instagram over the last couple of weeks so I hope you’re as happy to see it as I am to share it!

There have, of course, been a few bumps along the way – designing is rarely plain sailing. The first yarn I had bought for the design didn’t work out, so I had to order this one, which did work much better for my plans (isn’t it stunning?).

Don’t worry though, the original yarn is already being knitted up for another pattern – nothing is wasted!

In the second photo in the carousel, you can see that I had two attempts at the setup section – the first (on the bottom) kept the increase rate the same for the setup and shawl, the second (on top) has a slightly faster increase rate for the set up which blends into the rest of the shawl better so that’s the version I kept.

The yarn for Tuinn Bheaga is LottieKnits Aglow DK. It’s absolutely beautiful and a dream to knit with! The merino gives in a lovely bounce, the yak (similar to alpaca) adds to the beautiful drape and the silk gives a beautiful sheen to the shawl. The combination of yak and merino makes it really cosy too! Lottie is very kindly giving 10% off all her DK yarns for the release! Just use the code Ripple10 on her website.

Below you can see all my testers projects in various different yarns! There’s a beautiful range of yarns and colours, one used LottieKnits Chameleon DK Gradient and it’s stunning!

If you want to find out what I’m up to between blog posts you can keep an eye on what I’m up to on Instagram, or come join me on Patreon to find out what I’ll be releasing in November and January! If you’d like an exclusive 40% discount on future releases sign up to my newsletter – I only send out emails when I release a new pattern or am having a sale, so usually, you’ll only hear from me about once a month.

Architectural Beauty

I had a lot of fun with this design. The name of the yarn colour was what sent me off  down this fun rabbit hole. I grew up near Aberdeen – the Granite City as a kid, and lived and worked there as an adult so as you can imagine it’s very close to my

Cherry Leaves

I have loved this lace pattern for a long time. The original is in the book with the two sets of leaves facing each other across a central spine. As well as being pretty wide, the stitch count of the pattern varies over the pattern repeat. This makes it hard to use in your average

Mosaic and Lace

Ever since I made Breigichean I’ve been looking for the chance to do more mosaic knitting. I really loved this pattern in particular, so I was on the lookout for ways to use it! So when I was looking for an idea for my June design, this was the perfect place to start! I went

Trainer socks with a lace and twisted rib pattern travelling across the sock. The socks are knit in light brown yarn with speckles.

Lace Twill

I have been looking forward so much to knitting more shortie socks – they’re all the fun parts of knitting socks (toes and heels) with none of the boring bits (the leg!) I knew I wanted something lacy because we’re thinking summery and I added the rib to give the edges a little more stability.
