Mosaic and Lace

A close up on a cowlette with a mosaic body, knit in blue and white yarn, with a wide lace border knit in blue.Ever since I made Breigichean I’ve been looking for the chance to do more mosaic knitting. I really loved this pattern in particular, so I was on the lookout for ways to use it! So when I was looking for an idea for my June design, this was the perfect place to start!

I went on a bit of adventure trying to find two yarns to use, and I eventually settled on a gorgeous speckled white from Adventures in Yarncraft with this stunning blue from Cookston Crafts. I was a little reluctant because I had two skeins of the blue and I didn’t want to separate them, but in the end I think it was the right choice and I’m so happy with the results!

If you haven’t done mosaic knitting before, don’t worry, it’s really simple! You just knit a stripe of each colour and slip stitches from the previous row to make the pattern. That’s it! If you can slip stitches you can knit mosaic.

I picked the lace pattern for the border because I wanted to carry the chevron pattern from the mosaic all the way to the edge of the cowlette. I love the drama it brings to the edge of the cowlette. Block it out well to give your Moleery-Tea a gorgeous flirty edge!

A cowlette with a mosaic body, knit in blue and white yarn, with a wide lace border knit in blue.Naming is often the hardest part for me. I chose the name Moleery-Tea because it’s a Scots name (there are lots) for the Yarrow plant. The leaves of the yarrow are feathery and reminded me of the lace pattern on the border of the cowlette!

You can get 25% off Moleery-Tea with the code YarrowSale until 11.59 pm (BST) on the 24th of June 2025. The pattern is also on LoveCrafts and Etsy!

Storm Bird

I have been dreaming about a pair of fingerless mitts with a feather pattern for ages. It’s taken me a little while to figure it out. I didn’t want to use cables unless it was really necessary (spoiler, Assilag uses cables) because lots of little cables can be fiddly and tedious. I tried out some

The extra long length of a striped and stranded colourwork infinity scarf wrapped three times around the neck of a mannequin.

Rings of Colour

I have had this idea for ages, for a striped cowl with a colourwork pattern at the join between the stripes. So long in fact that I picked up this yarn as a “spare” advent calendar at the end of the year. The yarn came as a gradient from white, through pink, to purple, to

A shawl with two brioche patterns and an embroidered band knit in a deep red yarn modelled on a mannequin

Tufted Grass

I love knitting brioche. Once you get into the rhythm it’s a really relaxing process! I know the idea of knitting brioche can seem intimidating but the process is really simple, especially in this pattern. There’s only one colour, no brioche increases or decreases. It’s just a yarn over, slipped stitch and a knit stitch.

Chained Together

Fingerless mitts are always one of my favourite things to design and knit. The limited amount of space on the hand is a fun challenge and I love coming up with different ways to use the space! If you’ve been here for a while you’ll know that I started designing mitts with twisted rib and
