A modelled pair of socks with a rippling cable pattern up the side, knit in grey yarn with blue, orange and white specklesToday I’m bringing you a pair of socks that has everything I love! It’s toe up socks. It’s got a simple pattern that’s easy to learn. It’s got a fun pattern that will keep you coming back for more. And, possibly most importantly, it’s got speckles! If socks are your thing or you want to give them a try, this is the pefect pattern for you!

Killieleepie features gorgeous rippling slipped stitch cables up the side of each foot. A modelled pair of socks with a rippling cable pattern up the side, knit in grey yarn with blue, orange and white specklesThey’re fun to knit and super easy to knit without a cable needle. I bought the gorgeous yarn for these socks back in summer of 2023. I was waiting for the perfect time to turn it into a pair of socks, then in February 2024 the dyer I bought it from closed up shop. So I decided it was definitely time to get them made!

Unfortunately, this means you won’t be able to get the same colourway I used, but fortunately I know a few other dyers who produce gorgeous yarn with the same yarn base! Check out Eden Cottage Yarns Brimham High Twist; Third Vault Yarns Vortex Sock, LottieKnits Little Bird Sock is very similar but merino instead of BFL; Giddy Yarns BFL Nylon 4ply and of course, substituting this yarn with your own favourite sock yarn is always an option! If you have any other suggestions let us know in the comments!

More Shortie Socks

I really enjoy knitting shortie socks! They’re all my favourite things – toes and heels – but none of the boring bits – like legs that go on forever. Yeldrin have a really fun, easy to learn lace pattern that is mirrored on either side of the sock.  You can get 25% off Yeldrin with the code YellowSale until

Sea Monster Scales

It seems I have a love for lace patterns that repeat and can be increased in size through a cowl, but that’s ok, I’m happy to own it! Stoor Worm is the third cowl pattern I’ve done in this style, joining Cashie and Lozent. Where Cashie is leaves and Lozent has a diamond pattern, Stoor Worm

Storm Bird

I have been dreaming about a pair of fingerless mitts with a feather pattern for ages. It’s taken me a little while to figure it out. I didn’t want to use cables unless it was really necessary (spoiler, Assilag uses cables) because lots of little cables can be fiddly and tedious. I tried out some

The extra long length of a striped and stranded colourwork infinity scarf wrapped three times around the neck of a mannequin.

Rings of Colour

I have had this idea for ages, for a striped cowl with a colourwork pattern at the join between the stripes. So long in fact that I picked up this yarn as a “spare” advent calendar at the end of the year. The yarn came as a gradient from white, through pink, to purple, to
