Ever since I made Breigichean I’ve been looking for the chance to do more mosaic knitting. I really loved this pattern in particular, so I was on the lookout for ways to use it! So when I was looking for an idea for my June design, this was the perfect place to start!
I went on a bit of adventure trying to find two yarns to use, and I eventually settled on a gorgeous speckled white from Adventures in Yarncraft with this stunning blue from Cookston Crafts. I was a little reluctant because I had two skeins of the blue and I didn’t want to separate them, but in the end I think it was the right choice and I’m so happy with the results!
If you haven’t done mosaic knitting before, don’t worry, it’s really simple! You just knit a stripe of each colour and slip stitches from the previous row to make the pattern. That’s it! If you can slip stitches you can knit mosaic.
I picked the lace pattern for the border because I wanted to carry the chevron pattern from the mosaic all the way to the edge of the cowlette. I love the drama it brings to the edge of the cowlette. Block it out well to give your Moleery-Tea a gorgeous flirty edge!
Naming is often the hardest part for me. I chose the name Moleery-Tea because it’s a Scots name (there are lots) for the Yarrow plant. The leaves of the yarrow are feathery and reminded me of the lace pattern on the border of the cowlette!
You can get 25% off Moleery-Tea with the code YarrowSale until 11.59 pm (BST) on the 24th of June 2025. The pattern is also on LoveCrafts and Etsy!
