Chained Together

Fingerless mitts knit in pink yarn with a series of thin twisted rib cables making chains on the back of the handFingerless mitts are always one of my favourite things to design and knit. The limited amount of space on the hand is a fun challenge and I love coming up with different ways to use the space!

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll know that I started designing mitts with twisted rib and cables and while I branch out into other things these days, I never forget my first love! There are so many cable patterns out there to explore!

The pattern for Rackle comes with a photo tutorial for working the cables without a cable needle. I highly recommend giving them a try. The alternative is using two cables needles and it feels more fiddly than doing it the other way.

Like some of my other mitt patterns (Tar-Sgàil Mitts and Aisneach Mitts) you can swap the left and right mitts over to get a different look. I love how the cables wrap around the edge of your hand! If you’re gifting them, or, like me, prone to mixing them up when you’re in a hurry, this is particularly handy, because there’s no wrong way to wear them!

More Shortie Socks

I really enjoy knitting shortie socks! They’re all my favourite things – toes and heels – but none of the boring bits – like legs that go on forever. Yeldrin have a really fun, easy to learn lace pattern that is mirrored on either side of the sock.  You can get 25% off Yeldrin with the code YellowSale until

Sea Monster Scales

It seems I have a love for lace patterns that repeat and can be increased in size through a cowl, but that’s ok, I’m happy to own it! Stoor Worm is the third cowl pattern I’ve done in this style, joining Cashie and Lozent. Where Cashie is leaves and Lozent has a diamond pattern, Stoor Worm

Storm Bird

I have been dreaming about a pair of fingerless mitts with a feather pattern for ages. It’s taken me a little while to figure it out. I didn’t want to use cables unless it was really necessary (spoiler, Assilag uses cables) because lots of little cables can be fiddly and tedious. I tried out some

The extra long length of a striped and stranded colourwork infinity scarf wrapped three times around the neck of a mannequin.

Rings of Colour

I have had this idea for ages, for a striped cowl with a colourwork pattern at the join between the stripes. So long in fact that I picked up this yarn as a “spare” advent calendar at the end of the year. The yarn came as a gradient from white, through pink, to purple, to
